“Writing is a way to engage deeply and meaningfully with the world so that life does not just simply pass us by,” says Shelby Hinte. “Writing is a way to linger and dissect the moments that might otherwise evade us. But as busy adults, how do we find time to write?”

In this 5-week online class, through generative exercises, journaling, and class discussions, we will build and strengthen our writing practice. We will experiment with different processes, routines, and practices so that we may find what works for us. In addition to in-class writing, we will read short articles and watch author discussions that reveal how creative practices can be integrated into a variety of lifestyles. Group discussions in a supportive environment will help us explore how we can tap into our creativity.

Shelby says, “The goal of this class is for you to develop a personal writing routine that is meaningful to you and compatible with your everyday life. Writers of all backgrounds and levels of experience are welcome.”

Reviews
  • This class is SO well-crafted, often to the point that I would find myself thinking, "It would be great if I could figure out X," only to find that we would do exactly that in the next class!

  • Shelby was super supportive (both during class & in written feedback), an expert on the subject with a wealth of ideas, and did a good job of fostering a welcoming sense of community.
