“Every story takes place somewhere,” says instructor Katharine Harer. “Images in poetry and stories often root us in distinct places. When we write about a place, and weave together our memories and observations, we create meaning beyond a road sign or a pin on a google map
This online creative writing workshop will enable class members to deepen reflection on their own work, receive focused feedback from classmates and instructor, and inspire development toward class members’ finest hopes for their writing projects
In this 3-week class, we'll look at poems by risk-taking poets like Diane Seuss, Danez Smith, and Chen Chen, among others. We’ll use these poems as jumping-off points for our work, doing prompt-driven writing inspired by what we find there

“The best way to learn anything is to DO it,” says instructor Kate Montgomery. “In this fun, informative boot camp, you'll get into the process right away. With an interactive mix of lecture, discussion, screenings, and group and individual writing exercises, you’ll learn and apply the basics of professional screenwriting
“In this class, rather than learning how one makes a poem,” says instructor Erin Rodoni, “we will approach craft by asking ‘How do I make this poem?’ Over the course of three weeks, we will follow the process of poem-making from first spark to fully formed vision
“How do we write about moments that defy easy explanation, like waking from a vivid dream that quickly fades or unexpectedly meeting a long-lost friend on a crowded street?” asks instructor Lauren Krauze. "In this class, we’ll dive into memories and experiences that may elude us, treating them as rich sources for creative exploration
