The Writing Salon Scholarship
“We’re thrilled to offer an opportunity for more Bay Area writers to flourish.”
About the Scholarship
Since its founding in 1999, The Writing Salon has been a valued community resource for writers to express their creativity and to develop their craft and critiquing skills.
We believe that community is about celebrating the diversity of writing and writers. With the launch of The Writing Salon Scholarship program, we will welcome writers of promise over the age of 18 who may not have had access to our community previously due to financial need. In 2019, we will offer two writers a $300 credit for Writing Salon classes, an invitation to do a featured reading at our school, and a private consultation with an instructor.
Scholarship recipients will be chosen by a committee comprised of Writing Salon instructors, and each application will be reviewed by at least two members of the committee. Submissions will be accepted from July 1 – August 1.
Congratulations to the Winner!
The 2018 Jane Underwood Poetry Prize winner is Lisa Gluskin Stonestreet for her poem “When the women imagine their mothers in death.”
