He wrote and directed the Ovation award winning play The Rainy Season and co-wrote The Buddha Prince\, a ‘walking’ play about the life of the Dalai Lama. Currently\, Mr. French is an associate artist at the Oakland Theatre Project\, Co-Creative director at Other Hand Studies\, a resident artist at Playground\, and he is adapting the Heinrich von Kleist novella\, The Betrothal of Santo Domingo\, for production in 2021.[/vc_column_text][mk_padding_divider][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/4″][mk_circle_image src=”https://www.writingsalons.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/thea_matthews.jpeg”][mk_padding_divider][/vc_column][vc_column width=”3/4″][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1603226436820{margin-bottom: 0px !important;}”]Thea Matthews is a Brooklyn-based poet of Afro-Indigenous Mexican heritage. Born and raised in San Francisco\, California\, Thea earned her BA at UC Berkeley where she studied and taught June Jordan’s program\, Poetry for the People\, led by activist and author Aya de Leon. Her debut poetry collection\, Unearth [The Flowers]\, was published by Red Light Lit press in June 2020. Her work has appeared in The Rumpus\, Atlanta Review\, Foglifter and others. Her third poetry collection recently won the 2020 Southern Indiana Review Michael Waters Poetry Prize and is forthcoming in fall 2021. Her poems\, stories\, and reviews have been published in such places as Best New Poets\, Poetry Northwest\, and World Literature Today\, among others. She has been writing creatively since she was six years old and has since accrued a hearty collection of journals.
