During “normal” times many of us struggled to find time for ourselves, riding the hamster wheel of work and parenting. Now, during the pandemic, we have more time to interact with our kids, but even less time to process the complex joys and challenges of being a parent.

Instructor Katharine Harer says, “Creative writing is the perfect repository for the sometimes confusing and always human experience of being a parent.” In this half-day Saturday class, Katharine will guide you in writing activities to help you express the gamut of feelings and experiences of being a parent in this strange time. You’ll connect with your inner voice, that part of yourself that gets buried under piles of laundry and to-do lists, and you’ll learn useful tips to continue your writing practice at home, accessible writing prompts you can do in the spaces between potty training or school drop-offs. For inspiration, you’ll read authors who have tilled the fertile ground of parenting.

“Whether your child is teething or in the stormy sea of adolescence or, like my son, officially grown-up, this class will give you the space to do some meaningful writing and to share experiences and insights with other parents,” says Katharine.

All backgrounds and experiences with writing are welcome.
