Testimonials for Jay

Feel like you could get more words on the page? Want to cut down your outlining, writing, and revising time? Think those people who say writing must be a nightmare of a zillion drafts are kinda nuts? Then this course, says instructor Jay Ridler, is for you.

Using lessons from literary fiction (think Joyce Carol Oates) and genre fiction (think Ray Bradbury) as well as from history, the psychology of creativity, and even scientific and business practices (I know, I know, but they work),” says Jay, “I’ll  lead you through a day packed with ideas, examples and exercises to help you maximize your writing time so that you get to your best possible story quicker and with your enthusiasm charged.

Each stage of writing will be addressed (pre-writing and outlining; drafting; and revision). The goal? Reduce resistance in each stage to help increase your word/story/chapter production without sacrificing quality.”

While geared towards beginners and advanced novices, this workshop is good fodder for the experienced writer, too. By the day’s end, “you’ll have a bunch of tools to increase your productivity — from idea to execution — and write fast and furious!”

Jason S. Ridler is a writer and historian. A former punk rock musician and cemetery groundskeeper, he’s published novels, over sixty short stories for such venues as The Big Click, Fireside, and Beneath Ceaseless Skies, and dozens of writing articles, reviews, and more. He teaches for Norwich University and Tilden Preparatory Academy, and performs improv “dramady” every weekend at Pan Theater in Oakland.
