San Francisco Classroom Address: The Mill Building (also known as Bryant Square Lofts), 720 York St. #207 (between 19th and 20th streets). This classroom address is open for classes only. There is no administrative office here.
Parking: There are no parking meters or restrictions on weekends or after 6 p.m. on weekdays. Since our classes are offered only when there are no restrictions, parking can easily be found within a block or two.
Entering the Building:
IMPORTANT NOTE: The Mill Building is comprised of live/work condominiums, so please be quiet and respectful of the building residents. Do not attempt to enter the building without being let in by your teacher, who will be waiting in the lobby for a 15-minute period prior to class starting time. In other words, don’t try to walk into the building when someone else comes out or goes in; this is against building security rules.
When you arrive at the main door (a glass door), your teacher will be watching for you from the lobby, and will let you in. If you arrive any earlier than this, please wait outside the building until the teacher comes.
If you are late for class, find “Writing Salon” on the building directory. Punch in the intercom code for “Writing Salon.” The teacher will answer and buzz you in.
Take the lobby stairs to the second floor (or the freight elevator if you cannot use the stairs). At the top of the stairs, do a U-TURN (don’t just go right), then go through the open door that will lead you down a LONG hallway to Unit #207. A Writing Salon postcard is posted on our door.
How to get here:
SF Public Transportation: The closest BART stations are the 16th and 24th Street Mission stations. There are also numerous MUNI bus line options (ie. on Bryant Street or Potrero Ave. or 16th Street) that will take you within a block or two or three of 720 York St. Please call MUNI to get exact directions from your starting location.
From the East Bay: Cross the Bay Bridge and take I-80 to the first exit, which is the 9th Street/Civic Center ramp. This leads you straight onto Harrison Street. Take Harrison to 10th Street, make a left on 10th, stay on 10th until it turns into Potrero Ave. Keep going on Potrero to 19th Street, turn right on 19th and go 1.5 blocks to York Street. Left on York, and you are there! The Mill Building takes up the entire righthand side of the block between 19th and 20th streets.
